Reference Department
In the Reference Department Reading Room one can use e-sources online and on CD-ROMs as well as reference books. The employees offer assistance in searching for bibliographic and full-text information in the fields of studies related to the University profile.
The current registration of the AGH University staff publications also belongs to the tasks of the Reference Department.

Information services:
- assistance in bibliographic and subject searches on the basis of electronic and printed information sources
- compiling literature list by subject for faculty and for industry
- analyses of citations of scientific publications based on available databases
- information on the Main Library collections, the collections of branch libraries and other Polish and foreign libraries (such information can also be obtained in the Circulation Department and Branch Libraries & Inventory Control Division)
Services are carried out on the basis of information resources, which include: printed collections (bibliographies, lexicons, dictionaries, encyclopedias) and electronic information sources (among others: databases, e-journals).
Training for students
Employees of the Reference Department conduct training in the use of the Main Library collections (printed and electronic sources of information), and the preparation of bibliographic descriptions of various types of documents (such as books, book excerpts, articles, standards, patent descriptions, maps). Training is designed for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students (Methodology of bibliographic searches).
Visiting the Library
It is possible to organise tours round the Library in groups, after previous arrangements.

The Reference Department organises exhibitions of recently purchased Polish books, as well as subject exhibitions.
Exhibitions of new books
Information about current exhibitions can be found on the Library website in News.
Moreover, in the Library hall, the companies IPS- ABE, and Kraina Książek present recently published books of various publishers. AGH University staff can browse through these books and select titles to be purchased in the Reference Department.
For many years, the Library has organized subject exhibition in the Library exhibition hall. After the closure, the exhibitions are available online.
